The village of Dobbiaco, situated at the highest point of the Val Pusteria, is split into an old and a new part.
Already 100 years ago, Dobbiaco was a very popular climatic health-resort. Many crowned and uncrowned heads used to spend their holidays there. Today, the village is still appreciated for its clear and fresh air and represents a popular holiday destination, especially in these times of stress and pollution.  
That’s what the composer Gustav Mahler wrote at the beginning of the 20th century: “Dobbiaco, this is such a wonderful place and a real retreat for body and soul…”

Besides its climatic advantages, Dobbiaco preserved also its natural and authentic character as well as the incomparable beauty of the landscape.
